This Chinese steamer made from Kiso hinoki (Japanese cypress) is not only beautiful in appearance, but also highly durable. Steamers tend to get wet both before and after use, however, this product has excellent resistance to water and moisture being made from hinoki and can be used for a long time. Yamaichi’s “Hinoki Chinese Steamer” has a wooden frame which consists of four layers of hinoki boards in order to increase thickness, and such a structure provides high thermal insulation. Because of its excellent thermal insulation properties, the food will not lose its flavor, texture or color even if it comes into contact with the wooden frame.
■Details
The lid of the steamer is made from two layers of bamboo Ajiro knitting as well as a sheet of hinoki, making it possible to release just the right amount of steam but absorb excess moisture to prevent water droplets. With this clever design, the steamer can prevent food from getting watery and achieve plump and tasty results along with the beautiful scent of hinoki. The 21cm Hinoki Chinese Steamer is perfect for 2 to 3 people. The body can be placed on top of one another (up to two layers) so the steamer will come in handy when you want to cook steamed dishes for your guests. Since the lid does not have a tab, you can eat off the steamer without placing the food on another dish.
